Bimini Bay Beach

Radio Beach, Blister Beach, Spook Hill

Most of Bimini’s beaches are found on the west side of North Bimini. These are long white sand beaches that meet the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean. 



Radio Beach is the only beach on Bimini with public facilities, which include toilets, vendors, and snack bars. Though it’s the most popular beach in Bimini, there are still plenty of quiet spots for sunbathing with a book in hand and a variety of fast food restaurants and bars located along side Radio Beach.

Blister Beach has also been trademark for great snorkeling opportunities, although many would argue that the swimming and sunning is also top-notch. Located in a more secluded area, you’ll find it less crowded here than on some other Bahamas beaches, making it a favorite among locals.

FISHING

The Island of Bimini is known as the big game fishing capital of the world, with a record tuna catch of 971 pounds dating back to 1993; Bill Tweedle of Leesburg caught the 971-pound bluefin tuna June 12, 1993. The fish, which measured 10 feet, 4 inches long, is the biggest bluefin ever caught in the Bahamas real estate area. The island has an array of legendary fishing guides who are willing and ready to provide visitors with some of the best fishing (and fishing tales) as well as guided trips in the Bahamas. Take a tour of the local historical sites such as the Steps of the Lost City of Atlantis, The Healing Hole and the Fountain of Youth, among others. Bimini Bay Resort and Marina’s helpful staff is happy to arrange bone fishing, deep-sea fishing and big game fishing. One of Ernest Hemingway’s favorite “Islands in the Stream,” Bimini attracted the famous author for the same reason it attracts many sportsmen today: world-class fishing, now that’s Bahamas real estate.

Hemingway lived on Bimini during the 1930s, his own paradise, his home in the Bahamas. He was able to work on ‘To Have and Have Not’, as well as a few articles, but was mostly seen aboard his boat Pilar, look for his huge marlin, tuna and swordfish. Hemingway came to Bimini through the words of the incredible fishing available in the Gulf Stream, the famous river of warm water that runs north past his Bahamas real estate. Bimini’s flats are home to the fly fisherman’s favorite prey, bonefish and permit, and local wrecks hold big grouper and schools of tasty snapper. From the Back Bay to the deep drop-off, Bimini earns its title as sport fishing capital of the world.

Bring up your rod and it will bend, as the fish takes off on a blistering run. Bimini Bay has joined forces with Bimini Undersea. Bimini offers some of the most prolific marine life and diverse diving environments in the Bahamas real estate, including colorful reefs, intricate wrecks and the world-famous Road to Atlantis. In 1968 a structure was found near Bimini’s North Island; The now famous Bimini Road is over 600 meters in length and composed of a double line of enormous blocks which curve gracefully back towards the beach. Another structure continues for another 100 meters before it disappears beneath the sands. Some blocks are placed on top of others, but the majority rests on the sea floor. There is no better place to encounter the exotic and beautiful wonders of the sea than in the warm, clear waters of the islands of the Bahamas

TENNIS

Bimini Bay Resort offers 2 state of the art tennis courts. Tennis Courts are available to guests complimentary on a first come basis. Guests must provide their own tennis equipment. You will find that our islands are the ideal location for tennis. There is no season to limit play here, just year-round blue skies and warm weather. Annual events include the Bahamas Women’s Tennis Open in March and the Mark Knowles Celebrity Tennis Invitational in December, which have also made the Bahamas their home.

WATER SPORTS

Bill and Nowdla Keefe’s Bimini Undersea offers snorkeling and SCUBA as well as Wild Dolphin adventures. Private charters are available for world-class deep-sea fishing and bone fishing. Kayaking, sailing and island tours may also be arranged. Bimini Undersea offers unique “Dolphin Excursions” 3 to 4 times weekly (upon demand) aboard the Dive Vessels “Delphine” and “Adventurer.”

SNORKELING

For Snorkelers, Bimini was named one of the Top Ten Snorkel Destinations in the Caribbean by The Travel Channel. Bimini Bay Resort and Marina will now offer the convenience of booking family water activities onsite at the resort. Bimini Undersea Adventures taking snorklers to favorite sites like the Wreck of the Sapona and The Bimini Barge, The Bimini Road (aka The lost city of Atlantis), Tuna Alley, Victory Reef,Turtle Rocks, Hawksbill Reef, as well as Three Sister Rocks. Snorkeling trips are done in shallow water (15-25 ft) and are great activities for the entire family. No prior snorkeling experience is required to explore the Bahamian real estate.

DOLPHIN ADVENTURE

WILD DOLPHIN ADVENTURES Bimini is home to one of the most incredible and unique wild animal encounters to be found anywhere in the world, not just the Bahamas. Swimming with Dolphins has been described as one of the most thrilling, amazing, magical, and in some instances life changing experiences that an individual can possibly have. Bimini is one of only five places in the world where people can consistently have that experience.
Our Wild Dolphin Adventures gives you a great opportunity to be successful doing so. On these excursions, guests are brought out to Bimini’s Wild Dolphin Grounds for an unforgettable opportunity to view, swim, and interact with a resident population of Wild Dolphins. Bimini local Nowdla Keefe first discovered these Atlantic Spotted Dolphins back in 1995. Since then the crew of Bimini Undersea have been taking visitors from all over the world out to experience this phenomenon. If you are an adventurous soul looking for the experience of a lifetime, a Wild Dolphin Adventure may be exactly what you are looking for. Participants of all ages are welcome.

Trips are done in both the mornings and afternoon and can be anywhere from 3 to 4 hours in length. Bimini Undersea has been conducting these excursions on an average of twice weekly since February of 1996 and has documented an 80% success rate in finding the Dolphins. In many cases, once the “Pod” is located, the Dolphins have allowed our guests to swim and interact with them as well as observe them from the boat. The photo and video opportunities have been absolutely outstanding.

It takes approximately 1 hour to reach the “Dolphin Grounds” before we begin searching. At times we have located them in as little as 30 minutes. Sometimes it has taken over 2 hours. On average, about 1 out of every 5 trips we have been unable to find them at all. But that’s the nature of a “Wild Encounter.” For the 4 out of 5 times we do locate them, the experience is unforgettable.
