While Genting Awaits Destination Casino License Fate in Miami, Today They Announce Resorts World Bimini Bay Casino Just 45 Miles Off Miami’s Coast
(Miami, FL) — While waiting on the fate of their proposed $3.5 billion uber-luxe Resorts World Miami destination casino gambling license with the State of Florida legislature next year, Genting Group pulls the trigger with a boutique smaller casino just 45 miles off Miami’s cost on the island of Bimini.
Today RAV Bahamas LTD., developer of Bimini Bay Resort & Marina and Rockwell Island Beach Estates has announced a new partnership with Genting Malaysia Berhad (“Genting Malaysia”) to launch a new, multi-million dollar, luxury gaming facility in North Bimini, to be called Resorts World Bimini Bay, which is set to debut in mid December 2012.
The 10,000 square foot world-class casino located within Bimini Bay Resort will introduce an entirely new concept to the destination and feature state-of-the-art gaming including popular table games, slots within a modern Caribbean décor, a sleek entertainment bar and a restaurant lounge.
The new strategic partnership between RAV Bahamas and Genting Malaysia will create the only casino in North Bimini and offer residents, resort guests and visitors from South Florida alike a new form of entertainment, world class gaming.
“We are thrilled to align with Genting Malaysia and the Resorts World Brand. In addition to offering our residents and hotel guests world class service, the project’s success is also contingent on providing a superior quality product,” says Gerardo Capo, Chairman of RAV Bahamas. “We consider the addition of the casino to be the most exciting new amenity to be added to the resort in years and will ultimately entice a new segment of luxury clientele to visit North Bimini,” stated Alejandro Capo, CEO of RAV Bahamas.
“I am pleased to welcome Genting Malaysia, one of the world’s premier casino resort operators in partnering with the Capo family in developing Bimini Bay into a unique resort. This is an important venture not only for RAV Bahamas and Genting Malaysia but also for the island of Bimini as it provides further stability for the local economy in a destination that already enjoys a 79% repeat visitor return.,” says Rt. Hon. Perry G. Christie, Prime Minister of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
“We are delighted to return to The Bahamas and be a part of this exciting resort community that has been developed by RAV Bahamas Ltd and the Capo family. Our shared vision to offer gaming entertainment, luxury amenities and world class service will continue to attract many new visitors to the Bahamas’ gateway destination just minutes away from South Florida and other major US cities by air and sea,” says Dana Leibovitz, President of Resorts World Bimini Bay.
“This is a new chapter for the local Bimini community and the vast employment opportunities that will become available for Bahamians in a variety of disciplines in the new casino and resort as well as the spillover benefits to other areas of the local economy. We estimate that close to 300 new jobs will be created from this new gaming venture and this comes at a time when many leisure resort destinations in our region are experiencing a downturn,” says Leslie Bethel, Chief Operating Officer of RAV Bahamas.
RAV Bahamas and Genting Malaysia are committed to ensuring that Bimini Bay and its future phases are developed in a sustainable manner to positively impact the social, economic and environmental fabric of Bimini. Our various initiatives including mangrove preservation and replanting, community development initiatives, debris removal programs and the use of bio fuels and renewable energy are important components of our development plans.
